Publisher

This site is published by a private individual, acting in a non-professional capacity and not in the course of any business. Under article 6-III-2 of French law 2004-575 of 21 June 2004 on confidence in the digital economy, a non-professional publisher may withhold their identity from the public pages, having provided it to the hosting provider, which is the arrangement used here.

Any legally founded request concerning the content will be answered, and the identity of the publisher is held by the host and available to the competent authorities.

There is no contact form on this site, no telephone number and no postal address, because there is no service being offered. The email address is the only channel.

Editorial policy

Everything here is written for this site. Figures are given as the ranges published for surviving examples, and the publication they come from is named in the text so that a reader can check it. When a claim is contested in the literature, that is stated rather than smoothed over.

The register is a reading resource. It does not value objects, does not authenticate them, and gives no advice on buying or selling. Nothing on the site is a conservation instruction for a specific object: for that, the entry on rust, handling and storage ends by pointing at the accredited conservator registers, which is the correct route.

Illustrations

The images are generated illustrations made for this site. They show generic objects and are there to support the text; they do not document identified museum pieces and should not be cited as photographs of specific artefacts.

Data

This site sets no cookies, loads nothing from any third party server, runs no analytics and collects nothing about its readers. There is no account, no login and no newsletter. The only script is a few lines that filter the list on the home page, and it runs entirely in the browser.

Server logs kept by the host for security and traffic purposes are outside the publisher's control and are governed by the host's own policy. If you write to the contact address, your message and your email address are used to answer you and for nothing else.

Reuse

The text is the work of its author. Short quotations with a link to the page they come from are welcome. Wholesale copying is not, and neither is republication of the text as training material or as the body of another site.
