Dark Swords combat magic system bases around the division of attack spells into 3 categories: Flame, Cold and Lightning. Damage of spells as well as the chance of their successful casting varies according to character's and monster's resistance to either element. At this very moment chance to cast spells increases with the help of appropriate characteristic increase (Intelligence) and with equipment, mainly with staves. Attack spells damage is the sum of Magic Damage index (depends on Intelligence, equipment bonuses and may also be improved in the appropriate guilds) and the spell damage values for the given level. Beyond that, half of the spell's effect value is calculated into the actual damage as a multiplier. Dispersion of damage for each element is: Flame – 10%, Cold – 20%, Lightning – 30%. The nominal values of the fighting spells damage are listed in the tables below. Learning attack spells is done in Schools, Middle Schools and Elite Schools of Flame, Cold and Lightning. In case when victim is not chosen the attack spells use the current opponent. Mana cost for single-target attack spells is lowered proportionally for characters below 31st level.

IMPORTANT!!! It is good to note that characters who didn’t study the skill «Bachelor of Magic», miss one tact of combat after application of empowered combat magic (once in 4 seconds). During this tact they cannot use combat magic.

Spells Fire Wind, Frost Blast, Lightning Bolt also have additional effects. For the effect would work out it is needed to apply successfully one of the spells to the enemy 3 times in succession within 3 rounds and less. If the application of magic Fire Wind is successful, the target will get DAM = [MD .. MD*LV]+CMD of loss within 12 seconds (MD – nominal loss of spell, LV – level of the skill Combat Magic, CMD - index of Magical loss of character). For Frost Blast – the target will miss actions with a probability of 50%. For Lightning Bolt– the target will be affected by the effect Dispel Magic of the level that corresponds to the level of the spell and for some time the upper limit of "dispersion of magical loss" got with this target will be increased for [0.01 .. 0.5].

where Х – Chance to Cast, У – Resistance to element

Damage:

DAM = ((ND+ND*LS)*(1+C)+MDAM*(1+[SMnD..SMxD]/100))*R,

LS - level of the skill Combat Magic;

R - coefficient of dispersion of element (equal to 0.9 .. 1 for Fire; 0.8 .. 1.2 for Cold; 0.7 .. 1.3 for Lightning; 1.3 when studying the skill Harmony of Elements; may be increased up to 1.8, if the target is hit with current);

MDAM - magical damage of character;

SMnD..SMxD - an occasionally chosen number between minimum and maximum loss of stuff (taking into account the skill Dragon-headed staff);

С - effect of carnival expressed as a decimal fraction, that means. 0.1, 0.2 ... 1.0;

ND- Effect from table.

Cost after mana for characters below the 30th level:

X = (0.5/(30-L))+0.5

MANA = MP*X

L - level of character.

MP - cost after mana from the table.
